Stefan Wiesner, whose parents were also parachute athletes, is a soldier in the Bundeswehr with the rank of sergeant major . He inherited his enthusiasm for skydiving from his parents (father of former world champions, mother trainer in skydiving in Denmark and Switzerland). As a member of the Bundeswehr sports promotion group in Altenstadt / Schongau, he became world champion more than a dozen times in various disciplines of his sport.

He was successful in his parade discipline, target jumping, both in the individual goal and in the team competition. With over 12,000 jumps, he was the most successful German skydiver. In 2014 he became world champion in the combined classification of target and style jumping, 32 years after his father had already fought for this title. He was the only jumper to win the world championship in target jumping four times in a row. In addition, he won the gold medal at the World Games in Taiwan in 2009 and thus the world title in target jumping.

For his sporting successes, Federal Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière presented him with the Silver Laurel Leaf awarded by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on November 3, 2017 .
