Substitute election

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The right to vote by proxy is an electoral process in which people's votes can be transferred to a proxy. Democracies such as England ( proxy voting ) and France ( vote par procuration ) allow representation in the election.

In Germany, the highest personality of the election is anchored in Section 14 (4) BWahlG, so that representation is not possible under the current legal situation. Whether a corresponding change in the law would be permissible is doubted in part with reference to the unwritten constitutional principle of the ultimate personality of the election. However, due to the possibility of voting by postal vote , there has so far been no legal political need in Germany to introduce a representative voting right.

A special case of the right to vote is the right of parents or family to vote .
