The Pusch Foundation is a Swiss foundation with the full name of Practical Environmental Protection and is based in Zurich.
history
PUSCH emerged on January 1st, 2000 from a merger of the organizations VGL and Siga / ASS.
SEE
The Swiss Association for Water Protection (SVG) was one of the first environmental organizations in Switzerland since 1949. In the beginning, the focus was primarily on the heavily polluted waters in Switzerland. Later the field of work expanded to include the topics of air hygiene, waste management and soil protection, which is why the organization was renamed the Swiss Association for Water Protection and Air Hygiene (VGL) in the 1970s. The organization was mainly aimed at local authorities in order to support them in the performance of environmental tasks.
Siga
The foundation “Interest Group for Waste Reduction” (Siga), founded in 1985, when the waste problem was becoming more and more known due to uncontrolled landfills, worked together with authorities, science, business and consumers in the development and implementation of the Swiss waste model. In the Canton of Zurich, she made a significant contribution to the development of waste education in the Canton of Zurich. In the mid-1990s, Siga merged with the Clean Switzerland campaign, which had existed since the 1960s, to form the Siga / ASS Foundation.
purpose
The foundation serves to promote a healthy environment, sustainable use of resources and diverse and species-rich habitats. For this purpose, it offers in particular lessons and aids for public relations work; according to our own presentation (as of May 2020) it reaches around 60,000 schoolchildren and several thousand adults annually.
