Foundation for the promotion of Nordoff / Robbins music therapy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Foundation for the Promotion of Nordoff / Robbins Music Therapy was founded in 1992 at the suggestion of the music therapist and Echo Prize winner for social engagement Lutz Neugebauer. Following the Anglo-American model, musicians, concert promoters, music publishers and record companies, private individuals and companies got involved to support and promote the treatment of patients, scientific work and the training of music therapists. Publicity campaigns helped to make Nordoff / Robbins music therapy known in Germany and to generate financial resources. An annual fund-raising dinner served to raise funds, provide information and public relations alike. From 1996 this fund-raising dinner was linked to the Echo Awards and was one of the most important events for the music industry in Germany. The cooperation with branded articles such as Coca-Cola, Katjes, Jägermeister also contributed to building up the foundation's assets, as did charity singles from Bravo All Stars, the New Rock Conference, Mandoki's Soulmates or individual activities by artists and supporters. In 2005 the foundation expanded its funding goals and was renamed Musik-Hilft. In 2013 the foundation ceased its operational work and was dissolved.
