In labor market research , a hidden reserve is used to describe people who, under certain conditions, would be willing to take up a job, but who do not register with the labor administration as unemployed.

For hidden reserve mainly includes those persons who are not entitled to unemployment benefits have, mostly, for example, housewives who so far none of occupation have followed, students, pupils and retired a second job search. In some cases, however, you will also find people in the hidden reserve who have withdrawn from the labor market discouraged because they have not found a job after a long period of unemployment . It is economically relevant that the people in the hidden reserve are not included in the calculation of the unemployment rate due to their withdrawal from the labor market. ( See also : unemployment statistics )
