Pole use

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The use of poles is a supportive movement sequence when skiing . Usually the parallel turn and the transfer turn are done with the use of poles.

The use of poles supports the swing initiation. Before you start turning, you put a ski pole into the snow on the inside of the curve. When driving past the inserted stick, you stretch your body ( high relief ) and push yourself lightly on the stick. The momentum is triggered by this relief, simultaneous weight shift and active turning of the legs.

The use of poles loses its importance with carving , driving on the edge of the ski, in simple terrain. In many cases, people even ride without sticks. In difficult terrain ( deep snow , moguls , frozen and steep slopes ) and when swinging quickly ( waving ), the use of poles is still indispensable.

A variant of the pole use is the double pole use. The trigger, this time on both sticks, is much more pronounced here. The double-pole use is mainly used to support rapid swinging.
