Stormy Weather is a folk band from Ansbach that has existed since 1993.
history
The band was founded in 1993 by Andreas Jordan and Frank Albrecht. With two other band members (Norbert Imschloß and Martin Didion) Stormy Weather performed regularly in Germany and Ireland until 1995 . In September 1995 she released her first record At Alans , which contained a total of six titles. The record was preceded by a demo recording from 1994, which was named Slainté . From this point on, a permanent core developed in the line-up, consisting of the founding member Jordan and Norbert Imschloß. The rest of the line-up still fluctuates a lot, at times the number of band members is in double digits.
The distribution of the instruments turned out to be unusual at Stormy Weather, as two accordions, trumpet, guitar and bodhran were usually used in their performances. The vocal contribution is not only done by Imschloß and Jordan, but usually by other band members. During the band's concerts in the 1990s, a music video was created that was made up of live recordings. It was released in January 1997 under the title live and in color . In the late summer of that year, Stormy Weather contacted Allan Aho for another CD. It was launched in April 1998 under the name Seabeams .
The next production was directed and recorded by Pete Mayhew. The Make you smile record features a wide variety of music styles, ranging from folk and rock music to pop to Celtic and Latin. Two tracks on this CD took top ten places at the Indie International Songwriter Competition in Seattle (USA): "Urban Dream" in the Spring / Summer Contest 2010 and "Wind of Fairy" in the Spring Contest 2013. An "Honorable Mention" was awarded for each . To mark its 20th anniversary, Stormy Weather reissued the concert / music film from the 1990s, digitally revised under the title " Stormy Weather at the movies - live, colored & unplugged " on DVD . Since January 2019, Norbert Imschloß and Andreas Jordan have been holding weekly after-work concerts where new material is created. In the same year, three CDs with a selection of songs from the concert cuts were released under the project name Kissel , followed by nine more from April to September 2020. At the same time, the two Stormy Weather CDs in 1996 and We had all the fun were released.
