Strömer (model rocket)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Strömer (also called flutter tape ) is a long, flexible tape usually made of plastic film, which is used as an air brake in small model rockets to reduce the rate of descent . For this purpose, it is attached to the cord or rubber that connects the rocket tip to the body tube and stored in the rocket in a rolled up state. With the ignition of the ejection charge , the stream is ejected from the rocket and flutters in the air. Compared to a parachute, a stream requires less space and, since the rocket sinks faster to the ground, causes the model to drift less.
