The Arheilgen tram depot is a former depot in Darmstadt-Arheilgen .

Architecture and history

The former tram depot consists of the carriage hall and the administration building. The depot was built in 1924 according to plans by the architects Markwort & Seibert.

The administration building is a two-storey front building with a gable roof . There is an arcade extension on the ground floor .

The carriage hall has vertical ribbon windows and a playful geometric rear facade in iron framework . In addition, a recurring diamond motif in the gable windows and in the hall gate.

On both buildings there is a corresponding expressive diamond decoration in the gable fields.

The depot is in an exposed urban location and is of supraregional architectural quality.

use

An Edeka supermarket has been located in the former car hall since July 2014 . Before that, the hall was mainly used for events such as the Christmas market or trade shows. A youth center has been housed in the administration building since the 1990s .
