The Strada Statale 640 degli Scrittori is an Italian national road , the area Sicily runs.
It starts in Porto Empedocle at the roundabout with Via Molo and Via Bagni and runs for 3 kilometers to Villagio Pirandello . There, the SS 640 takes over the lane of the SS 115 coming from Trapani at the junction "Porto Empedocle" . The SS 640 is part of the E 931 for around 3.5 kilometers up to the Rotatoria Giunone, but turns right again at the Giunone roundabout the SS 115 direction Licata changes. The SS 640 continues straight ahead over the motorway-like expansion of the route, which was completed in 2016. The route from Canicatti to Caltanissetta is still being developed.
The SS 640 ends at the AS Caltanissetta of the A 19 (E 932), where there is a connection to Palermo and Catania .
