Stringfollow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stringfollow or set is an archery term and describes the effect that occurs when a bow is stretched over a certain degree.

Normally a bow should return to its original shape after being guyed according to Hooke's law , but if the load becomes too great, the wooden structure in the bow belly of a wooden bow will be compressed too much and the bow will shorten in length, resulting in less potential firing energy Has.

In order to accommodate this effect as much as possible, the bow must be placed on a bow rest that lifts the bow in the middle of the two limbs. The bow is never placed on a limb. The wider the limb, the less string follow.
