Strongyle

Strongyle (Greek Στρογγύλη "the round") referred to several islands in antiquity:

• the volcanic island of Stromboli
• the island of Santorini
• a small island off the coast of Lycia, today Strongyli (Megisti)
• as the original name the island of Naxos

Strongyle also describes a submerged diocese.
