Stuart Levey as Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence

Stuart A. Levey was the first Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence in the United States Department of the Treasury . He took the oath of office for this on July 21, 2004; he remained in that capacity until March 2011. Levey was central to the Bush administration's efforts to combat the behavior of North Korea and Iran in the international financial system. Prior to his nomination, Levey was Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General in the US Department of Justice . Prior to that, he was Associate Deputy Attorney General and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Attorney General. In January 2012, Levey joined HSBC as its Chief Legal Officer .
