Room elder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The elder of the room is the longest-serving or most senior resident of a room, who has a certain self-administration or representative function. However, other criteria were also used. Room elders appear in the military, for example, but were also placed in the hierarchy of prison functionaries in the concentration camps .

The official name for this function in the Imperial Austrian Army and in the Austrian Armed Forces is Zimmerkommandant .
