Study Program on European Spatial Planning

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Study Program on European Spatial Planning , SPESP for short and in German study program on European spatial planning , was launched in 1998 and, as a test run, represented the predecessor of ESPON , the network for European spatial research.

In order to coordinate and later harmonize the spatial planning in the individual member states of the European Union, the ministers of these countries have agreed to launch the SPESP study program as a test. The aim of these test studies was, among other things, an analysis of the "room components"

  • geographical location,
  • economic strength,
  • social integration,
  • Pressure on land use,
  • Natural potential,
  • Cultural assets.

In addition, this study dealt with the possibility of political measures in relation to a partnership between town and country, as well as a cartographic representation of future spatial planning measures. A final report was presented in 2000.
