The internet project sub-bavaria is a Wiki -Lexicon of Bavarian subcultures based on the MediaWiki software . It was founded by Julian Doepp, Patrick Gruban and Ania Mauruschat in 2005. Sub-bavaria has been online since July 22, 2005 and hundreds of users have so far contributed to building the collection. On sub-bavaria there are around 3000 entries about Bavarian artists, venues and art forms (as of August 2019).

The Zündfunk supported sub-bavaria in the start-up phase with a radio column that could be heard every Friday between 7 and 8 p.m. in August 2005 and at irregular intervals. The content of the contributions was incorporated into the wiki.

In addition to the lexical collection, concerts are organized in cooperation with sub-bavaria in various parts of the Free State, for example the sub-bavaria country party in Traunstein in summer 2006 with bands from the region. The whole thing is rounded off by an event calendar for the Bavarian subculture scene.
