Subjective relevance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In information science , subjective relevance (also pertinence ) is related to the question of the relevance of documents in information retrieval . A distinction must be made between subjective relevance (pertinence) and objective relevance .

A document is pertinent (subjectively relevant) for a search query,

  • if it is used subjectively to prepare a decision,
  • if it subjectively closes a knowledge gap of the user,
  • if it subjectively fulfills an early warning function for the user.
