Suchet Malhotra is an Indian percussionist and composer. The instruments he plays include tabla , tabla tarang , def , darabuka , djembé , pandeiro , cajón and udu , as well as the didgeridoo .

Malhotra was taught traditional Indian singing as a child and was a student of the tabla master Chhamma Khan . He then studied economics and worked as a sports reporter for some time before returning to music. In addition to appearing at numerous ethno and folk festivals around the world, he also works with musicians from many other styles. He performed with Abida Parveen at the 2002 Jahan-e-Khusrau Festival , took part in Remo Fernandes ' album Muchacha Latina and was a member of the oriental jazz fusion band Mystique .

His partners include the Wanny-Angerer Latin Jazz Trio and numerous European ethnic ensembles as well as the trauma therapy group Global Hullabaloo . In 1999 he founded the electroacoustic ensemble Da-Saz with Lionel Dentan , whose debut album Jet Lag was released in 2008. He founded the trio Trippercussion and recorded a double album with Goonga Sain . His compositions include the music for the documentary Jashn-e-Azadi , the musical Pink Balloon and the music for the puppet show Pinocchio-The Wood Boy .
