Sum parameters

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sum parameter is a term used in chemical analysis for the comprehensive description of action and material parameters .

A cumulative parameter summarizes one or more groups of substances under defined analysis conditions, but does not allow information on individual substances (also called individual parameters). The advantage lies in the relatively simple overall recording and specification of environmentally harmful substances in environmental samples.

The following sum parameters are, for example, common (not always limited to one area):

Sum parameters in water analysis

These sum parameters are used to a large extent in environmental analysis to describe the quality of water samples ( drinking water , surface water , groundwater , wastewater ). This includes the content of organic compounds, organically bound halogens and the salt content. Here, the organically bound halogens (these can arise, for example, through the chlorination of drinking water) are often summarized under the heading of group parameters.
