Superstructure

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Superstructure (from Latin : supra "above", con "together" and struere "build") is a term in dentistry . It describes the dentures attached to a dental implant . This can be a crown , a bridge or a prosthesis . The superstructure is usually manufactured and incorporated around 3 to 6 months after the implants have been inserted. The superstructure can be screwed to the implant or fixed with permanent or temporary cement.

For technical reasons, a mesoconstruction sometimes has to be installed between the implant and the superstructure .
