Sutta
A sutta , plural sutta, is a hollow in the terrain.
Suttas are wet areas that form in depressions in arable land and meadows in spring after the snow has melted. The size varies from small puddles to hectare-sized areas. Due to strong fluctuations in their living environment and environmental conditions, as well as the permanently changing environmental influences, a wide variety of communities develop. In the mostly intensely cultivated cultural landscape, suttas are real 'hotspots' of biodiversity . Suttas are among the most endangered habitats and therefore need special protection (e.g. Lower Austria State Law 2000).
