Sword in the Darkness (Eng. "Sword in the Darkness") is an unpublished early work by Stephen King .

It is a 150,000 word novel written between 1968 and 1970. With no psychic elements, King tells the story of a boy who has lost his sister and mother and has to look after his father, who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown . King also describes race riots that focus on one school. The book was rejected twelve times, but King is grateful for it today.
