The T-puzzle is a game of patience . The special thing about this game is that, despite the simple starting situation, it usually takes a long time until the puzzle is solved. In contrast to other placement games such as B. Tangram , the T-Puzzle is not about placing different figures.
history
The exact origin of the game is unknown.
In the early 19th century, the puzzle was used for advertising purposes. The oldest known game was packed in the tea boxes of the " White Rose Ceylon Tea " in 1903 , which was sold in New York by Seeman Brothers . On the longest piece of the puzzle was the instructions " Arrange these four pieces of cardboard so as to form a perfect T. " ( " Arrange these four pieces of cardboard so that a perfect T is created.") With the play on words "[...] that a perfect tea is made. ")
construction
The letter "T" is drawn with the width a on a sheet of paper or a thin wooden board and cut out. The first cut (1.) divides the letter into three parts. The second cut (2.) runs parallel to the first at a distance a . This results in four parts.
Rules of the game
The four parts of the game are shuffled and possibly turned over. Only now should the player see the parts. The task is to create the letter "T" from the parts.
solution
Solving the puzzle is made more difficult by the fact that all four parts have the same width a . In addition, an attempt is often made first to fill the corner in the middle part.
