TIP TIG welding torch with wire feed

TIPTIG welding is a tungsten inert gas welding process .

The process developed and patented by the Austrian engineer Siegfried Plasch in 1999 is one of the arc welding processes . It is a further development of TIG welding with a new method of wire feeding. With conventional TIG welding, the filler metal is fed in by hand or mechanically in the form of wires or rods. With TIPTIG welding, the continuous wire feed is superimposed by a parallel forward and backward movement. The superposition of the two movements results in kinematic energy that reduces the surface tension of the weld pool. In addition, the welding wire is heated by a direct current source. This is done by means of resistance heating, which the filler material experiences when it touches the weld pool. The advantages of this are lower heat input, very little dilution (mixed connection of base material and supplied welding filler material) and an increase in welding speed compared to feeding the filler metal by hand or mechanical feeding.
