Tapenade in a mortar

The tapenade is an olive paste from the southern French cuisine . The main ingredients are pitted olives , anchovies and capers ( tapenos ). It is used as a spread or dip sauce.

In the wrong use of the word, other spreads are also referred to as tapenade, e.g. B. the tomato tapenade, which is based on dried tomatoes and does not contain olives.
