Baptismal promise

Baptism promise in the Christian liturgy describes the double declaration required before the baptism of a converted to Christianity

  • (a) Rejection of the bad guys and
  • (b) belief in the Triune God.

The Roman Catholic liturgy knows a renewal of the baptismal promise of the baptized in the annual celebration of Easter Vigil , before important sacramental celebrations, such as Confirmation and First Communion , as well as before receiving Communion (" food for the journey", viaticum ) in the face of death.
