Taylor Institution

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The  Taylor Institution  (also known as Taylorian ) is Oxford University's library dedicated to the study of European languages. The building also has lecture rooms used by the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages at Oxford University. The Taylor Institution was founded in 1845, largely from an estate of the esteemed architect Sir Robert Taylor (1714–1788). Modern European languages were not offered as a subject until 1903. Since the Bodleian did not have enough space, the Taylorian was first used as a magazine.
