The Technological University Almaty ( Russian Алматинский технологический университет , Kazakh Алматы технологиялық университеті ) is a university in the Kazakh city of Almaty .
history
The Technological University of Almaty was founded in 1957 as a branch of an institute and transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education of the Soviet Union . It was then converted into the Institute for Food.
In June 1966 the Institute for Food became a branch of the Institute for Technology, Light and Food Industry Schambyl. The name was officially changed on August 11, 1966. On May 7, 1996, the government of Kazakhstan decided to raise the branch to the rank of an independent institute. The Institute of Technology was created.
The Technological University of Almaty in its current form was not officially created until August 18, 1999, when the institute was promoted to university.

Today's university consists of five faculties:
- Faculty of Light Industry , Technology and Design
- Faculty of Food Production
- Faculty of Food Raw Material Processing
- Faculty of Equipment and Information Technologies
- Faculty of Economics
