The tea infuser (also: tea egg ) is a kitchen appliance for brewing loose tea . The name comes from the egg-shaped shape of the device.

Tea spoon

A tea infuser is usually made of corrosion-resistant metal ( stainless steel ) and has a number of small holes that allow the ingredients that dissolve during the brewing of the tea to be released into the surrounding water. As a rule, it consists of two halves that are connected with a hinge or thread, as well as a device for hanging in the water, which usually consists of a chain. But there are also so-called teaspoons , i.e. tea eggs in the form of a spoon or tongs, which fulfill the same function.
