Tectonics (archiving)
With tectonics is in the archives , the hierarchical structure called in an archive in groups, departments or collections. Within the Bestände- or inventory outline of an archive of the classification is done holdings . As a rule, the inventory is classified in a first stage according to temporal caesuras and provenances . Topical classifications are made primarily within the area of collections.
As a finding aid, tectonics enables the first systematic access to the individual subdivided stocks with the help of finding aids and thus ultimately to the archive material to be determined and the relevant information contained therein.
