Telecom (Association)

The Verband Telecom eV ( proper spelling : TELECOM eV ) is a German cross-sector representation of users of business telecommunications . It is mainly devoted to applications and represents the members as a consumer protection association vis-à-vis other organizations involved in the market in Germany and Europe.

The current honorary president of Telecom eV is Helmut Kohl. The executive committee currently consists of four other honorary vice-presidents, Tim Spielmann, Raymund Eisele, Thomas Plückebaum and Wolfgang Kuhl, as well as the honorary president, Erwin H. Schäfer.

history

The association was founded in Leverkusen in 1978 with the aim of representing the interests of large users of telecommunications on a specific basis. The aim was to ensure that member companies with many national or international locations receive state-of-the-art support through telecommunications services that were only offered by the state monopoly Deutsche Bundespost when it was founded . Since then, Telecom eV has continuously accompanied the development of the competitive telecommunications market from the user's point of view.

Association

Today the federal association represents large and medium-sized companies and thus the users of business telecommunications in the Federal Republic of Germany. The aim of the activities is consumer protection for users of business telecommunications. The framework conditions of market activity are thereby determined by a concerted committee work and z. B. positively influenced by public relations work as well as by public comments on bills in the interests of users.

The interests of the members are represented vis-à-vis the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), the relevant ministries (e.g. Ministry of Economics , Ministry of Justice ), the organizations of the European Union (e.g. EU Parliament , EU Commission ) as well as to the Germans Telekom, the alternative carriers and value-added service providers, as well as the manufacturers of the relevant system technology.

The association offers a platform for information and exchange of experience between users, but also with carriers, service providers, manufacturers, ministries and the regulatory authority.

General meetings and specialist conferences on the topic of telecommunications + IT give the members of Telecom eV the regular opportunity to meet with colleagues from the same or other industries and to exchange experiences. At such specialist conferences and workshops as well as the regular working group on regulation (AK Reg), current and future-determining topics are taken up in order to network the existing island knowledge in a targeted manner.

Members include companies from the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, chemical-pharmaceutical industry, food industry, utility companies, providers of telecommunications services, national and international banks and others such as financial service providers, insurance companies, energy and mineral oil companies, manufacturers of telecommunications systems, electronics manufacturers and telecommunications solution providers and consultants.
