Telekanthus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Telekanthus describes in medicine an enlarged distance between the inner (medial) inner corners of the eye ( Kanthi ). One speaks of a telekanthus when the distance between the medial kanthi is proportionate to the distribution in the normal population above the 97% percentile .

A telekanthus can be the result of a hypertelorism , one then speaks of a secondary telekanthus. Primary telekanthus occurs without hypertelorism, for example in Waardenburg syndrome type 1 .
