The Teo-Otto-Theater , originally called Stadttheater Remscheid , is the municipal theater in Remscheid . It is the largest and most important of the three theaters in the city. It is in the immediate vicinity of the Remscheid town hall in the city center.

The Teo Otto Theater offers space for 620 people. In addition to the normal theater program, the symphony orchestras of the cities of Solingen and Remscheid, the Bergische Symphoniker , various operas, concerts and musicals. In addition, the “Night of Sports” takes place here every year, in which the best athletes in Remscheid are chosen.

history

In 1952, the first phase of construction began , based on the drafts of the Düsseldorf architect Ernst Huhn . On January 11, 2000, the city of Remscheid placed the theater under a preservation order . Almost a year later, on September 30, 2001, it was named after the Remscheid-based set designer Teo Otto . This was followed by renovation work that was completed in 2003.
