Tetrapolis
Tetrapolis (from the Greek Τετράπολις, tetra for four and polis for city, i.e. four- city federation ) denoted in ancient times:
- one of the twelve districts into which Attica was divided before the time of Theseus, see Tetrapolis (Attica)
- four cities close to each other in the central Greek landscape of Doris
- the Tetrapolis in the Seleucid heartland and later the Roman province of Syria, see Tetrapolis (Syria)
- the city of Antioch on the Orontes, part of the Syrian Tetrapolis, alone
- the Tetrapolis on the island of Kefalonia, see Tetrapolis (Kefalonia)
