Thanboddhay or Sambuddha Kat Kyaw Pagoda

The Thanboddhay Pagoda ( Burmese သမ္ ဗုဒ္ ဓေ ဘုုရား , also Sambuddha Kat Kyaw Pagoda ) is a Buddhist temple complex near Monywa in Myanmar .

description

The pagoda was built between 1939 and 1951 with the help of donations; the driving force was the abbot Moe Nyin Sayadaw U Kyauk Lon. All of humanity should benefit from the sanctuary. The foundation dates are therefore recorded in 16 languages at the entrance. The German text is:

"The construction of this Sambuddha Kat Kyaw Pagoda was started by the venerable Sayadaw from Mohnyin Tawya in 1301 of the Burmese calendar and ended in the year 1313 of the Burmese calendar when he was 80 years old."

The observation tower may only be climbed barefoot by men via a spiral staircase and offers a view of 471 stupas of various sizes.

The walls inside the temple are littered with statues of the Buddha from tiny dimensions to meters high: there are exactly 582,357 images of Buddha. Numerous brightly painted and lavishly decorated places of worship invite devout Buddhists to linger. To western visitors, the temple's furnishings seem overloaded and confusing.
