The Brothers ( Māori Nga Whatu ) is a group of two small rocky islands and other cliffs in the Cook Strait in New Zealand off the east coast of Arapawa Island . Administratively it belongs to the Marlborough region .

On the 66 m high island of North Brother Island (4 ha) the rare bridge lizard Sphenodon guentheri occurs, which is called in English after this island Brothers Island tuatara . At the top of this island is a lighthouse, Brothers Island Lighthouse .

The islands have been registered as Wahi Tapu by the Department of Conservation since 2008 .
