They're Either Too Young or Too Old is a song written by Frank Loesser and Arthur Schwartz in 1943 . In the version sung by Bette Davis , it was used as a movie song in the film Thank Your Lucky Stars . The song was nominated for Best Song at the Academy Awards in 1944 .

In the song, Bette Davis complains that her husband was drafted for military service and the only men left are either too young or too old.

For Frank Loesser it was the first major success. The song became a number one hit on the Lucky Strike Hit Parade and was sung by Davis many times. A cover version comes from Kitty Kallen and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.
