Thomas R. Ross

Thomas Randolph Ross (born October 26, 1788 in New Garden Township , Chester County , Pennsylvania , † June 28, 1869 in Lebanon , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Republican Party . From 1819 to 1825 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the first and second  congressional districts of the State of Ohio.

biography

Thomas Randolph Ross was born in New Garden Township, Pennsylvania . After successfully graduating from school, he began studying law . He then became a lawyer admitted. He ended up in Lebanon, where he practiced from 1810.

In 1819 he took up his seat in the House of Representatives as a representative of Ohio's 1st Congressional District. In 1820 he was re-elected, as was in 1822. From 1823 he represented the 2nd district. From 1819 to 1823 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Committee on Revisal and Unfinished Business . In 1824 he was not re-elected. After leaving Congress in 1825, he returned to practice as a lawyer. In 1866 he lost his sight . He died in 1869. His grave is in Lebanon.

He was married to Harriet Ross. His sister Sarah married the future governor of Ohio, Thomas Corwin .
