Three Stories and Ten Poems is an anthology by the American author Ernest Hemingway , which was published in 1923 by Robert McAlmon in Paris with an edition of only 300 copies . It was Hemingway's first major appearance as a man of letters beyond journalism . In 1925 his first real collection of short stories appeared with In Our Time and in 1926 with Fiesta his first novel .
