Thubursicu
Thubursicu or Thubursicum , fully Thubursicu Numidarum , was an ancient city in Numidia, North Africa . The ruins are located about 30 kilometers (as the crow flies) west-southwest of the city of Souq Ahras on the W19A road near what is now Khamissa in Algeria.
In Roman times it became a Municipium under Trajan with the full name Municipium Ulpium Traianum Augustum Thubursicu , later Colonia . In late antiquity, Thubursicu was the seat of a bishop; the titular bishopric Thubursicum of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .
Archaeological excavations in the 1st quarter of the 20th century have uncovered the remains of numerous buildings, including two forums and a theater.
