Tn3270

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TN3270 is a special variant of the Telnet , the communication between 3270 - terminals and mainframes is used. In contrast to common Unix terminals, which are line-oriented, 3270 terminals are field-oriented. Normal Telnet sessions therefore do not work satisfactorily. As a character encoding is EBCDIC used. The former 3270 terminals are now emulated under Windows and Linux, common products are Host On-Demand (HOD) and IBM Personal Communications (PCom). The TN3270 server encrypts on request with SSL / TLS or transparently with AT-TLS.
