Tobruk was a British band from the Birmingham area of the 1980s .

description

First Neil, Evans, Bryant and Davies played in the band Stranger in Bedford . In 1981 they headed to Birmingham and joined Woodward and Vallance to form Tobruk . A demo recording helped them make an appearance on The Friday Rock Show , which in turn led to a record on Neat Records .

Her first two songs Wild on the Run and The Show Must Go On appeared on a single in 1983. This was followed by the switch to EMI / Parlophone and the recording of their debut album Wild on the Run , which was released in May 1985. The nine titles on it are of a consistently high quality and have received high praise from many critics. Nevertheless, the band did not make their big break with it.

There was a dispute over the follow-up album In Motion . It couldn't keep up with the debut in terms of quality and Parlophone refused to release it. So the band separated from the label and broke up a little later. In 1988 the album was released under a new title on an independent label.
