The Tondeswaram Temple is located on the southernmost tip of Sri Lanka , on the Dondra . Together with the Koneswaram , Thiruketheeshwaram , Munneswaram and Naguleswaram temples, it is one of the five ancient Shiva temples in Sri Lanka. The temple was excavated in 1998 and rebuilt by Hindus. Actually, this area is purely Sinhalese Buddhist. According to archaeologists, there is now a Buddhist shrine on the original site of the temple.
