Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen

As Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen) or TKN the sum of is an organic nitrogen and ammonium (NH 4 + ) designated in an analytical sample. This value is required , for example, in biological wastewater treatment and in approximating the protein content of food.

The TKN was named after the Danish chemist Johan Kjeldahl and is determined using Kjeldahl's nitrogen determination.
