Traction bus

The traction bus is a field bus that is used to transfer commands between rail vehicles . He works in data transmission with frequency shift keying ( Frequency Shift Keying FSK). In the German Federal Railways, it is better known as time-division multiplex push-pull train control , which is based on this bus technology. It is often mistakenly viewed as part of the Train Communication Network (TCN), which is incorrect, because it is separate from it for security reasons, but is mostly used together with the TCN. Because the TCN usually runs over the UIC cable , which can be disconnected by unauthorized persons while driving. So that this does not result in an emergency stop, but only indicates a fault, the MVB normally only runs over the 9-pin ep cable . Other cable connections are also possible, especially for multiple units where conventional rolling stock does not have to be taken into account. However, today's push-pull train with fieldbus technology is dependent on the TCN, mostly because of the side-selective door control.
