Transduction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Transduction (from Latin trans "beyond", "beyond", "beyond"; ducere "to lead") means " passing through " and is used as a technical term in different areas:

  • Transduction (genetics) , gene transfer between bacteria by viruses
  • Transduction (gene therapy), one-time transfer of genes into a host cell using viruses, which then do not replicate (in contrast to productive infection )
  • Transduction (neurobiology), conversion of an external stimulus into a physiological signal, for example phototransduction
  • Transduction (cell biology), transmission of a signal into a cell, across the cell membrane, using so-called "second messengers", see signal transduction
