The Tranvia a vapor del Real de San Carlos or colloquially Decauville del Real de San Carlos was a minimum of 1,910 operated until 1912, about 5 km long, partly double-track narrow gauge - steam tram in Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay .
Location and history
The small town of Colonia del Sacramento is located opposite Buenos Aires on the Río de la Plata and was often visited by Argentinian day-trippers from there, especially because of the bullfighting and the casino, which are prohibited in Argentina. In order to facilitate the journey to the bullring, which was newly built in 1910, a steam train was laid and operated on the promenade from the pier to the Plaza de toros Real de San Carlos around 1910, which was very popular with Argentinian tourists.
