Such devices are also available for the stair transfer of people in wheelchairs . They have the advantage over permanently installed stair lifts that they can be transported without great effort and can therefore be used variably at any time on all stairs to be overcome. In addition, such stair climbers can also be used by disabled people who live in rented apartments, since, in contrast to stairlifts, neither installation nor structural changes are necessary. With these devices, however, the user is dependent on the help of a second person.

In addition to the stair climbers as an additional device, there are also special electric wheelchairs with an integrated stair-climbing drive. With these it is possible for the user to manage at least straight stairs without assistance.

Freight transport

There are systems of this type with pairs of wheels arranged in a star shape, which facilitate the transport of loads over the stairs with muscle power. Devices with electrical drive devices in different designs can significantly reduce the effort required.
