Tribe 8

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tribe 8 is a pen & paper role-playing game published in 1998 by the Dream Pod 9 publisher , which already attracted attention with the publication of the Heavy Gear tabletop system . A second edition appeared in 2003, and there were also some rule expansion and source books . A German edition was published by HivePress in 2000.

Tribe 8 takes place in an end times world that contains a mixture of fantasy and science fiction . There are progressive technologies, which are hardly known and if they are used, they can be highly unreliable and quite dangerous (weapons explode, automobiles break very quickly, etc.). In general, the characters and NPCs are far from these techniques and have more archaic items. In addition, everyone has a certain kind of magic, which is called "synthesis" and is bestowed by god-like beings called Fatimas. For many years mankind lived in the suppression of the mysterious race of the Z'Bri, about which little is known, some of them are referred to as extraterrestrials and some as a kind of negative reflection of humanity. Most of the people freed themselves from the Z'Bri and now live organized in seven tribes, which all follow a Fatima and have different powers of synthesis.

The player characters are mostly outcasts from the tribes, forming a mysterious eighth tribe about which the rest of the population knows little and wants to know even less.

Geographically, the game world (Vimary) is in Canada , around Montreal .
