A drum grater is a kitchen appliance that is used to chop up ( grate ) food with the help of a rotating grater bent into a hollow cylinder, which, depending on the version, is set in rotation by means of a crank or an electric motor. Depending on the size of the openings on the grater, a distinction is made between coarse and fine graters , as with flat kitchen graters: The former are used primarily to grind vegetables or fruit, while the latter are used to grind spices.

Modern grater drums are usually made of rust-free stainless steel and can be replaced in most current drum graters, not least to make it easier to clean the grater drums after use.
